South Shore Fine Arts Academy Frequently Asked Questions Q. Where is the school located? A. South Shore Fine Arts Academy shares a building with Fermi School at 1415 E. 70th Street. Q. How does a building share work? A. Over 80 Chicago schools share buildings. When two or more schools share a building, they operate in two separate areas of the building, except for when they use common areas (lunchroom, gym) during their designated times. Mrs. Mister has two years administrative experience in a building share situation. Q. When can I tour the building? A. SSFAA will host several prospective parent tours of the school beginning in early February of 2010. Please check the calendar page for tour dates. Q. What are the school hours? A. Earliest drop off is 8:15 AM. Classes begin promptly at 8:45 AM and end at 3:00 PM. Q. Does the school have after school programs? A. Yes. There are after school programs for grades K, 1 and 2 (and 3 beginning in 2010) until 5:00 PM. After school programs include homework time/tutoring, arts programs, physical activity/sports, and a snack. Pre-K students may participate in selected after school offerings accompanied by a parent. Q. Is there a school uniform? A. Yes. All students must wear either navy blue or white tops and either navy blue or khaki/tan/beige bottoms or jumpers. All items must be free of logos or other decoration. All students will be provided with one polo bearing the South Shore Fine Arts Academy logo. Additional school logo items will be available for purchase. Students may wear shoes of parent?s choice. Q. Does CPS provide transportation to the school? A. No, CPS does not provide transportation to South Shore Fine Arts Academy. Q. Who can I contact if I have questions? A.
